DIY Festive Dog Wrapping Paper Photoshoot: Capturing Lasting Memories with Elsa

ree

Getting a great photo of Elsa can be tricky, especially when you have a dog full of energy. I recently tried the DIY wrapping paper photoshoot with Elsa and her sister. It was not as easy as it looked. However, the results were totally worth the effort! Here is how I turned our energetic dogs into the star of the joyful holiday and some recommendations on how you can do the same at home.

The Story Behind the Photoshoot

Being a Samoyed, Elsa is full of energy and not a fan of accessories. Much like how it took her a while to get used to wearing a raincoat, it took her a while to get used to the reindeer ears. She pounced around and tried to play with the accessories and set-up. The first few attempts were a blur of expressions and missed focus. However, I kept at it. I adjusted the setup, used treats, and made the session fun for her. Slowly but surely, the magic happened. We ended up with some adorable holiday photos that I’ll treasure forever.

Step-by-Step Setup for Your Photoshoot

1. Choose a Safe and Comfortable Background

I chose the entryway of my living room, which had a plain wall as a backdrop. I taped the wrapping paper flat against the wall and extended it onto the floor to create a seamless festive scene. This setup made Elsa feel like part of a holiday gift, and it kept the background clean so all the focus stayed on her adorable expressions.

2. Keep Your Dog Comfortable and Engaged

Let your dog explore the setup first, and give plenty of treats and gentle praise. During the shoot, use treats to guide attention. However, keep the sessions short so your dog doesn’t get stressed.

3. Safe Posing Tips

Never force your dog into poses. Encourage natural positions with toys or treats. Holding a treat just above the camera lens helps your dog look right at the shot! Watch for signs of stress and always pause if your dog seems uncomfortable.

4. Capture Multiple Shots

Dogs move fast, so take lots of photos! I used continuous shooting mode to catch Elsa and her sister's expressions in real-time. The more you shoot, the better your chances of that perfect holiday shot.

Final Thoughts on Your Dog Photoshoot

A dog photoshoot with wrapping paper is a fun, festive way to celebrate the holidays and make memories. The secret? Patience, a simple setup, and keeping your pup comfortable. Our holiday photos remind me that the best shots happen in moments of calm, fun, and connection. Capture your holiday memories today!
